Product Description
Overview

Tapered roller bearings have tapered inner and outer ring raceways, with tapered rollers arranged in between. All conical surface projection lines meet at the same point on the bearing axis. This design makes tapered roller bearings particularly suitable for combined (radial and axial) loads.

Tapered roller bearings are usually of separable type, meaning the inner component consisting of the roller and cage assembly can be installed separately from the tapered outer ring.

Tapered roller bearings are manufactured by EntrustBearing in a wide range of designs and sizes to suit diverse applications. They can be categorized into the following types:

  1. Single-row tapered roller bearings

  2. Double-row tapered roller bearings

  3. Four-row tapered roller bearings


Features
  • The bearing can be separated – the inner ring with roller and cage assembly together can be installed separately from the outer ring.

  • Roller and raceway contact along a contact line, which reduces stress concentration.

  • Tapered roller bearings can withstand high radial and axial loads.

  • They can only accommodate axial load in one direction. To carry axial load in the opposite direction, another symmetrically arranged tapered roller bearing is required.

  • Tapered roller bearings mainly bear combined radial and axial loads. Load carrying capacity depends on the outer ring raceway angle – the greater the angle, the higher the capacity.

  • Most of the axial load capacity is determined by the contact angle α. As the α angle increases, the axial load capacity increases. The angle size is indicated by the calculation factor e – the larger e is, the greater the contact angle, and the greater the axial load applicability.

  • For single row tapered roller bearings, clearance must be adjusted by the user during installation.

  • For double row and four row tapered roller bearings, clearance is set at the factory according to user requirements and is not to be adjusted by the user.

Applications
  • Single row tapered roller bearings are the most widely used type in terms of quantity.

  • In recent years, small-sized double row tapered roller bearings have been used in automobile front wheels.

  • Four row tapered roller bearings are used in large-scale cold rolling mills and other heavy machinery.

  • Tapered roller bearings are widely used in the automotive industry, rolling mills, mining, metallurgy, plastics machinery, and other industries.
